Reggae is a musical genre that has its roots in traditional Jamaican music (ska and mento) and American R&B. It did not touch a chord with music lovers before the 1960s, when it developed as a distinct genre of music. The characteristic feature of this genre is its rhythmic style that typically stresses on the off-beat. Although there have been many alterations in the traditional style of this genre, the original form still stands intact. Reggae radio stations play all forms of the music.
